Stories of Strength, Growth, and Community

As we wrap up another incredible year at LIFESPAN, we reflect on the remarkable journeys of the individuals we serve. Their stories are filled with determination, progress, and the power of opportunity. This year, we highlight Dyhan, Sequan, and Alison—three individuals who have flourished with the support of LIFESPAN’s programs.

Dyhan’s journey is one of resilience and independence. Born in India and moving to the U.S. in 2013, he faced challenges adjusting to a new education system while navigating life with cerebral palsy. Through LIFESPAN’s Lifeworks program, Dyhan gained essential workplace and life skills with the support of his job coach, Bobby. His confidence has grown tremendously—he now completes tasks independently, communicates more effectively, and even enjoys strategy games with peers. With continued support, Dyhan dreams of securing a data entry job, proving that with the right opportunities, every individual can thrive.

Sequan has been part of LIFESPAN’s community programs for over a decade, bringing encouragement and positivity wherever she goes. Since 2022, she has been a dedicated employee at Popeyes, showcasing the power of perseverance and hard work. Through the Lifeworks program, Sequan has strengthened her independence and deepened her community connections. She is a shining example of how meaningful employment can empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to reach their full potential.

Alison has discovered her artistic passion through LIFESPAN’s Mosaic Makers Market. Since 2017, she has created beautiful pottery pieces, taking pride in selecting glazes—especially her favorite color, red. Selling her artwork brings her joy, but her generosity extends beyond her craft. She volunteers sorting clothes for foster families and making handmade cards for seniors in Greensboro. Alison’s creativity and kindness brighten the lives of those around her, demonstrating how self-expression and giving back go hand in hand.

These stories remind us why LIFESPAN’s mission is so important. As we step into a new year, we remain committed to providing opportunities that empower individuals to grow, connect, and thrive. Thank you for being part of our journey—here’s to another year of possibilities!
